Try So Hard 03:57
Every morning she meets the girl in the mirror and paints her face Covers up every flaw she wishes she could just erase Out she goes to play the careful masquerade All because the billboards scream it every day If she was only a little bit brighter A little bit more like the others If only she wasn't the way she was made And never made any mistakes She wouldn't have to try so hard Wouldn't have to try so hard On the weekends she sees the girls in the windows with lifeless eyes Frozen statues in style, beauty so perfectly designed In she goes to find another new disguise Try it on, belonging's always worth the price If she was only a little bit brighter A little bit more like the others If only she wasn't the way she was made And never made any mistakes She wouldn't have to try so hard Wouldn't have to try so hard They tell her what to think Tell her how to feel Just keep her running Spinning that wheel Won't somebody tell her it's all a lie It's all a lie Now you can see she's a little bit brighter A little bit more like the others A girl who's no longer the way she was made Who found just the right part to play She shouldn't have to try so hard Shouldn't have to try so hard Every morning she meets the girl in the mirror and paints her face ©Rachelle Luk 2012

Keep Me 04:42
Is there a reason for this heavier side of things? Is there another moment to call my hiding place? I'd been in safety so long I didn't stop to think That fairytales don't make it far past the last page Should I pretend that I don't need A real apology? Well, I can't tell you what went wrong I don't know why love's come and gone But let me tell you what I know before you leave You promised you'd keep me How did I lose my place and become just second best? Did you prepare me for this? Was I not listening? Who needs your good intentions? I wish you'd just confess But now we're locked in silence so loud it's deafening Come on now, where's your follow through? Or did you forget that, too? Well, I can't tell you what went wrong I don't know why love's come and gone But let me tell what I know before you leave You promised you'd keep me You promised my heart would be safe The way I felt in your embrace You promised more than you could be for me So let me tell you what went wrong The reason why love's come and gone The simple fact is you forgot your word to me You promised you'd keep me ©Rachelle Luk 2013

Let every ambition for my own name And every desire to build my own fame And every plan for my selfish gain Be taken away, taken away Loosen my grasp on what this world sells Make my ears deaf to the lies they tell Keep me from serving anything but you Let any conceited notions that I Refuse to surrender because of my pride Cause them to stumble, cause them to fall Take them away, take them away Loosen my grasp on what this world sells Make my ears deaf to the lies they tell Keep me from serving anything but you Too busy building kingdoms of our own Just trying to reach our ever-changing goals But I refuse to waste this life On a chase for a temporary prize Loosen my grasp on what this world sells Make my ears deaf to the lies they tell Keep me from serving anything but you Keep me from serving anything but you ©Rachelle Luk 2012

I Am Not 04:14
Empty hands and heavy heart Open wounds and fading scars Once again confusion starts to steal my joy away But I, I will remember the things that I've seen And hold onto the truth that makes me free I am not endless strength I am not selfless love I am not the answer to it all I am not in control The captain of my own soul For you are all that I am not Yes, you are all that I am not It never takes too long before All my strength runs out once more But you have promised to restore if I would wait on you So I, I will remember the things that I've seen And walk into the light you shine on me I am not endless strength I am not selfless love I am not the answer to it all I am not in control The captain of my own soul For you are all that I am not In my weakness, then I am strong in your power All sufficient, more than enough In my weakness, then I am strong in your power All sufficient, more than enough I am not endless strength I am not selfless love I am not the answer to it all I am not in control The captain of my own soul For you are all that I am not Yes, you are all that I am not ©Rachelle Luk and Mike Klose 2012
